In the Mango Pavilion in Tsou-Ma-Lai Farm, more than 10 kinds of mangos grown in southern Taiwan are featured. And through the micro movies, interactive game experiences, the mango developments over the past several hundred years are recorded.

“Ai-Wen Mango”, the most well-known among people, is introduced from Florida, USA by the government in 1954. Because of the appropriate size, striking colors, the high degree of sweetness, and low fibers, it is the favorite of farmers and consumers and therefore, the most grown variety in Taiwan.

In southern Taiwan, tourists have a chance to experience the agro-tour fun of picking mangos. 小崇ㄉ果園 run by Mr. Yu-Chong LEE, is one of tourists’ favorite experiential fruit gardens. As the red color grows more and more obvious through the paper bag, the mango is ripening. “And it is time for picking. “, said Mr. Lee. The Ai-Wen Mango grown in 小崇ㄉ果園 is a traceable agricultural product and exported to Japan. Mr. Lee said confidently that this is the result achieved gradually by the fruit farmers.

Sugar free Dried Ai-Wen Mango at YU JING MENG (玉井之門), a popular souvenir choice
Remember to bring back some souvenirs made by mangos when visit the home of Mango. The popular product “Sugar Free Dried Ai-Wen Mango” in the well known Mango factory, YU JING MENG, sweeps Taiwan. It is named “sugar free” because no additional sugar is added during the processing. The sweet taste comes from the natural mango; therefore, it is tasty and healthy.

Coming to the southern Taiwan in summer, tourists can not only taste the delicious mangos but also visit the nearby agro-tour scenic spots. The aforementioned “Tsou-Ma-Lai Farm” has a Bee Farm, adults and children can watch the bees in close distance in a guided tour. Liuying, in the neighborhood of Yujing Tainan, is the largest dairy area in Taiwan; therefore, the important origin of milk worthy of exploring. The Cow’s Home used to be the ranch raising dairy cattle. Later it is transformed in to a touristic leisure park with dairy cattle. People can experience the fun of feeding cows here. The featured dish “Milk Hotpot” in Liuying District, using milk as the broth, is also worth trying because it breaks the salty hotpot tradition favored in Taiwan.

The nearby 八老爺車站 has the railroad handcar used for transportation by Taiwan Sugar Corporation in early times. It is displayed statically on weekdays and run between the station and 新營鐵道文化園區 on weekends. The total distance is about 4.6 km. The historical handcar is popular among tourists from Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia, carrying more than a million of passengers so far. Welcome to have a try if you are interested.
