Because Sanshing is at the upstream of Lanyang River, the water is not polluted and the rainfall is abundant in this area that green onions in Sanshing are famous for the “long white part, tender texture and strong onion smell”. People are fond of its fragrant smell.

Tiansongpi Railway Station was built in 1921, and it is in the middle between Sanshing and Qingshui Lake for the purpose of transporting logs, passengers and local residents from or to Taiping Mountain. It is one of the few wooden train stations left in Taiwan. The light blue typical Japanese architecture conserves its original appearance; therefore, it attracts many visitors to stop by and take photos. There are even idol dramas filmed here.

Coming to Sanshing Township, I surely had to taste the green onion cuisines. The tempting flavor of the onion pancake from the Farmer’s Green Onion Field is so traditional that one can hardly resist. Across the road is the Hes’Green Onion Pie. The pies are made in fresh by the servers and the pies just come out of the oven are so hot that to avoid burning your mouth, it is recommended to wait a few minutes before you put the pie into your mouth. The green onion pie has crunchy crust and juicy fillings and its smell and flavor is very addictive!
