Sanshing Green Onion Culture Palace
Sanshing Green Onion Culture Palace is renovated from an old warehouse and now a multi-functional service center promoting the agricultural produce in Sanshing and Datong Townships. Here we learn the agricultural stories of Sanshing Township.
In the Culture Palace, visitors will find introductions on Sanshing onions, including the history, structure, geological environment, cultivation and growing methods. Because Sanshing is at the upstream of Lanyang River, the water is not polluted and the rainfall is abundant in this area that green onions in Sanshing are famous for the “long white part, tender texture and strong onion smell”. People are fond of its fragrant smell.
In the palace, there are a sales center, the food court, and a leisure square providing souvenirs, drinks, hot meals as well as onion cuisines. Emerald Farm
Emerald Farm was certified by MOA International Foundation of Natural Ecology for its organic practices, such as pesticides and insecticides free, meaning the fruits are grown naturally. There are more dozens of seasonal produces here. When visitors come to stay on the farm, they will not only have a relaxing holiday, but also be informed of the organic farm. If you stay a night on the farm, you will have a chance to relish the organic breakfast, i.e. I had the homegrown basil leaves which I’ve tasted the natural flavor.
Scenic spots and tasty food nearby
Tiansongpi Railway Station was built in 1921, and it is in the middle between Sanshing and Qingshui Lake for the purpose of transporting logs, passengers and local residents from or to Taiping Mountain. It is one of the few wooden train stations left in Taiwan. The light blue typical Japanese architecture conserves its original appearance; therefore, it attracts many visitors to stop by and take photos. There are even idol dramas filmed here.
Coming to Sanshing Township, I surely had to taste the green onion cuisines. The tempting flavor of the onion pancake from the Farmer’s Green Onion Field is so traditional that one can hardly resist. Across the road is the Hes’Green Onion Pie. The pies are made in fresh by the servers and the pies just come out of the oven are so hot that to avoid burning your mouth, it is recommended to wait a few minutes before you put the pie into your mouth. The green onion pie has crunchy crust and juicy fillings and its smell and flavor is very addictive!
Meihua Lake Leisure Agriculture Area
A lake shaped like the 5 petal plum blossom is located in Meihua (meaning the plum blossom in Chinese) Lake Leisure Agriculture Area in Dongshan Township, and this agriculture area is one of the few that features lake ecosystem. Meihua Lake is a natural reservoir that preserves water resources and irrigates the farms. The route around the lake is about 4 kilometers long and visitors can enjoy the scenery through either walking or biking.
When the weather is nice, the lake scenery is amazing and visitors can stroll around, if getting tired, we could sit down by the lake to appreciate the scenic views. To the eastern bank of Meihua Lake is a suspension bridge which leads to Centre (Huxin in Chinese) Island of Meihua Lake. Sitting on the island, visitors can have a more than 180-degree panorama view overlooking the lake.
The taoism Sanqing Temple located at a position with the panorama view of Meihua Lake is less than 10 minutes away by car. Standing at the summit, visitors can have a panoramic view of Meihua Lake.
Sanqing Temple is the foremost Taoist temple in Taiwan with the building that embodies classical Chinese palaces.
